What's On Events List
Station Theatre Open Day
Open 10am till 4pm, Free Entry
On Saturday 22nd May, HIADS (that’s Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society) will be holding an open day at its home in the Station Theatre, West Town. You can find out how the theatre was converted from the railway goods shed at the end of the Billy Line in 1996 and have a tour of the theatre and its backstage facilities.
Currently we are planning to show people around in groups of no more than six, all masked and with Covid measures in place. The event will be held mainly outdoors and so we hope for good weather.
Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society presents
An urban detective story by Katie Pollock
Directed by Jason Christopher
Written by award-winning Australian playwright, Katie Pollock.‘Normal’ is described as an urban detective story in which the investigator is a teenage girl and the body is her own.
Poppy has developed a tic. A twitch. A spasm. It spreads through her body, then her group of school friends and before long, the whole town. Nobody can explain it, but as the disease spreads, the community begins to fracture along lines that turn into deep fissures.
Who or what is to blame? And how are they going to fix it? Inspired by the true story of ‘the town that caught Tourette’s’, this new play is dark, provocative, theatrically inventive.
Interested in acting? See open auditions for more info.
Why not join the team at HIADS and find a great way to learn new, or show off old, talents? It's not only directors and actors that we need, but also all the great folk who sell tickets, look after visitors, can help build and paint sets, or make costumes and props, or setup lighting and sound or look after the accounts, or building maintenance, or advertising, social media and websites. Whatever your skill set or whatever you'd like to learn, we're sure to be able to use you. So why not Join Us.
