Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society presents

Ladies Down Under

7:30pm, £14 adults (Early Bird: £12)

Written by Amanda Whittington.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

The funny, heart-warming sequel to the enormously successful Ladies' Day, following the lasses from Hull on their adventures down under.

After hitting the jackpot at Ladies' Day in York, the fish filleting foursome - Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda - are celebrating in style with the trip of a lifetime to the land of Oz.

While Shelley dreams of luxury and glamour, the rest of the gang decide to go native and camp out under the stars at Uluru. But Shelley soon discovers there's more on offer than posh hotels, stunning beaches and sun-kissed surfers; and Pearl finds that she's got a mountain of her own to climb...

Station Sessions 2

, 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Price per sessions:
£5 for HIADS Members,
£10 for Non Members. Ages 16+

Our popular weekend workshops are back, and this season there are two strands. Performance sessions cover audition technique, pantomime skills, voice and improvisation: the skills that help you walk on stage feeling prepared and confident. Tech sessions put you hands-on with our real lighting and sound equipment, from rigging the lights to plotting cues and programming sound, so you could help run an actual show.

The strands suit different people, but you're very welcome at both. Every session is built around doing rather than listening, whether you've been at this for decades or have never tried it at all. No experience needed.

The kettle's on from 10am, so come early for a coffee and a chat.

The sessions :

Sun 26 Jul — Audition Technique
Sat 12 Sep — Lighting – Rigging
Sat 19 Sep — Pantomime Skills
Sun 20 Sep — Lighting – Equipment
Sun 4 Oct — Lighting – Plotting & Cueing
Sun 11 Oct — Voice
Sat 7 Nov — Improvisation in Performance
Sun 8 Nov — The Sound System

Collaboration

Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, £14 (Early Bird £12)

This amateur production of "Collaboration" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

A gripping drama by Ronald Harwood, from the Oscar-winning writer of The Pianist and The Dresser.

Germany, 1931. The world's most celebrated composer, Richard Strauss, meets the brilliant Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, and together they begin work on a glorious new opera. It is a partnership made in heaven: two great artists at the height of their powers, sparking off one another with wit, warmth and soaring ambition.

But Zweig is Jewish, and the Nazis are on the march. As the regime tightens its grip on every stage and concert hall, Strauss is forced into an impossible bargain, one that could protect his family or betray his dearest friend. How far would you go to keep creating the thing you love? And where, exactly, does survival end and collaboration begin?

By turns funny, tender and devastating, Collaboration is a true story about art, friendship and conscience in the darkest of times, and the quiet compromises ordinary people make simply to carry on.

Mother Goose

Fridays 7:30pm, Saturdays and Sunday 3pm,
£16 Adults £12 Under 16's.
(HIADS members £14/£10)

By arrangement with Stage Right Creative Ltd.

A magical pantomime written by Alan P Frayn.

Oh yes it is! HIADS starts off 2027 with Mother Goose, the most warm-hearted (and feather-brained) pantomime of them all.

When a poor goose farmer takes in a magical goose called Priscilla, her luck turns golden overnight. But with riches come temptation, and the wicked Demon Discontent is determined to turn Mother Goose's head and win himself "Baddie of the Year".

Will the good Fairy, kind-hearted Jill and her beau Colin, and the not-so-silly Silly Billy save the day before our Dame loses everything that really matters?

Packed with golden eggs, groan-worthy gags, dastardly bailiffs, glittering song and dance, and all the boos, cheers and "he's behind you!" moments a family could wish for, this is feel-good fun for ages three to ninety-three.

Bring the whole gang, warm up your singing voices and join us at the Station Theatre for a right royal romp in the clouds.
